“Gilbert! Ugh!” You walked around the house, looking for the Prussian and his bird. You should have told him you were going to get ice cream. But no, you had decided to be honest and tell the albino that you were going to the vet.
You heard a “Piyo!” followed by “Verdammt, Gilbird! Shut up!” You followed the sound, tracking it to the bathroom. You pulled open the shower curtain to reveal Gilbert, with Gilbird on his head. You rolled your eyes.
“Come on, we’re going to be late for Gilbird’s appointment.” You hoped Gilbert would give in and allow you to take them to the vet, but, of course, that’s not what happened. Gilbert shouted “No!” and then darted past you, with his bird, and ran down the hallway.
You sighed in exasperation, walking out of the bathroom. “Gil, don’t be such a baby!” Instantly a reply came.
“I am not a baby! Scheiße!” He realized that he had given away his position again. You smirked and easily found the albino again, this time in the closet.
“Tell you what. You come to the vet, and I will buy the BTT beer and ice cream. How’s that?” Gilbert looked at you. He did like ice cream… and he loved beer… Gilbert nodded tentatively, and you pulled him up off the closet floor.
A few minutes later, you were cruising down the road, Gilbert looking around nervously in the passenger seat. Gilbird seemed fine with his trip to the vet, however. You pulled into the parking lot of the vet’s office, and got out of the car.
Gilbert stayed in the car for a moment, and only got out when you gave him a look. You rolled your eyes and held your hand out. He took it, and together you walked into the office. You told Gilbert to sit down while you talked to the receptionist.
He nervously sat on a large, cushy chair, looking suspiciously around the room. You stifled a giggle at how protective of his bird Gilbert was, and made your way to the Prussian. “It will be about a ten minute wait.” You sat down beside him, picked up a magazine, and settled in for the wait.
The front door opened, and Gilbert jumped about a mile into the air. You looked at him like he was insane, and he gave you a sheepish grin. Gilbert jumped again when the door opened, and the vet stepped out.
“Gilbert, and… GIlbird.” The vet was obviously amused. You pulled Gilbert up and walked towards the vet, following him as he led you to the exam room.
“So, GIlbird, how’ve you been feeling lately?” The vet, checked hi clipboard, and glanced at Gilbert.
“He’s been fine!” Gilbert half-yelled at the vet defensively. You gave the man an apologetic grin, and he returned a knowing look.
“Gilbert, please place the bird on the exam table.”
“Nein! Vhat are you going to do to my birdie?!” Gilbert turned to you, holding Gilbert away from the vet, possessively. “(Name)! Vhat are they going to do to my birdie?!”
“Relax, Gilbert. The nice vet just wants to make sure GIlbird is healthy. It’s just routine.” You spoke in a low, soothing voice, trying to get him to calm down.
“He is healthy! Who said he vasn’t?!” Gilbert was losing it.
“Gilbert, just give the nice vet the bird.” Gilbert flipped off the vet. The vet seemed quite indifferent.
“Not that bird!” you groaned, and face palmed. “Just give Gilbird over so we can get this over with.”
“Nein! It’s a plot! He’s going to take Gilbird away!” Gilbert looked all around the room for an escape route. You put a hand on either side of his face in a last-ditch effort to calm him down.
“Would I ever let them take Gilbird away? Hmm?” Gilbert thought for a moment, than shook his head. “That’s right. Gilbird is safe.” You waited to make sure he understood before backing away again. Gilbert reluctantly set Gilbird down on the exam table.
“Did you really flip off the vet?” Toni stuck his head between the front seats, eager to hear the story again.
“Ja! It vas awesome” Gilbert smoothly left out the part where he freaked out. You rolled your eyes, grinning.
“Honhonhonhon” Francis laughed in the seat behind you. You rounded the corner, revealing an ice cream shop.
“Don’t forget the beer, liebe!”
“I got it right here. Wait… what did you just call me?” Gilbert went very, very red. Toni and Francis laughed at him for a solid ten minutes.
