“Wait, wait, wait... okay, are you ready?” Lovino looked thoroughly unamused. You grinned and set the crown of small white flowers you had just made on his head. You sat back, gently moving his hair out of his eyes. Lovino crossed his arms and glared. “Perfect,” you said through a laugh, accidentally snorting.

Lovino rolled his eyes but couldn't quite keep away the tiny smile that rose at your laughter. You took a several deep breaths, a few last giggles passing your lips. “Where's yours?” Lovino asked, sounding less surly than he had meant to. You shrugged, a mischievous light coming into your eyes.

“There aren't any more flowers here,” you said, shielding your eyes against the hot sunlight that bathed the small field. You stood up suddenly, your mouth quirking upwards again. “But, I think I see some over there, and you look like you need a flower necklace,” you said with a laugh, turning to run towards the bigger field of swaying blue flowers.

Lovino shot up and ran after you, smiling. You turned to look at him, and sped up with a grin. You closed your eyes for a moment, enjoying the wind on your skin, the sun in your hair, and then you were turning around, running backwards, and sticking your tongue out at the Italian chasing you.

Your dress blew against your legs as you laughed. Lovino was speeding up, trying to catch you. You ran through the field, all the way up onto the top of a hill. The view took your breath away. Vineyards stretched out before you like blankets, the shining blue ocean visible just beyond. Warm, salty wind flitted over your skin, giving you shivers.

Lovino grabbed your waist from behind, pulling you down into the waves of blue flowers. You laughed breathily, rolling on top of him and adjusting his flower crown. He play growled, flipping you over so that you lay beneath him.

The sun made his eyes lighter, their soft green shining with laughter beneath dark strands of hair. You moved your head to the side slightly, the shadow of a laugh still on your lips. Suddenly it occurred to you how easy it would be to kiss him. He was so close to you. All you had to do was reach up and...

You blushed a gentle pink, but you didn't let yourself think as you lifted your hand up to his face, setting it on his jaw, your thumb brushing carefully over his lips. Butterflies took flight in your stomach.

“(Name)?” Lovino said your name like a sigh, his voice low. You didn't answer. Instead, you lifted your head and pressed your lips to his, your hand sliding to the back of his neck. He stiffened, muscles going rigid, and suddenly you realized you might just have ruined everything. You pulled away with a shaky breath.

Lovino looked at you with a mix of surprise and something else. The atmosphere felt suddenly fragile, as if moving too quickly would shatter into sunlit shards. You bit your lip, preparing for the fallout. Would Lovino be angry with you?

Your thoughts were cut off. Lovino tangled his hand in your hair, pulling you up to his lips. When his lips touched yours, fire seemed to radiate from the kiss, warming you and dispelling any doubt you had about how Lovino felt. Your free hand slipped into his messy hair, the soft strands brushing your fingers. His thumb slid over your jaw, shivers racing across your skin.

Lovino's flower crown slid off, the petals tickling your skin as it brushed your cheek and landed soundlessly in the grass. You parted for air, a smile tugging at your lips. Lovino smiled back and reached for the fallen flower crown. He slid it onto your head.

“I think it looks better on you,” he said with a grin.

“I'm not sure,” you answered mischievously. He laughed quietly, the sound stirring up the butterflies in your stomach again. You reached out and grabbed a blue flower, threading it through his hair. “There, now we match,” you said. He gently grabbed your hand, bringing it to his lips.

“As you wish, your majesty,” he said, his mouth quirking at the corners.

“I think I could get used to this,” you replied with a smirk.
Just a short little story I thought of earlier :) I think Romano would look good in a flower crown. (If there are any glaring spelling errors, let me know!)

I do not own hetalia!
